Here are some frequently asked questions about our services. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, call us on 02 6882 1133 to speak to our staff.

  • What does a Licensed Conveyancer do?

Licensed Conveyancers are professionally qualified practitioners who can advise clients in all legal matters relating to the sale, purchase or leasing of property within NSW.  They can also advise in relation to the sale and purchase of businesses.

  • What is a Certified Practising Conveyancer (CPC)?

A Certified Practicing Conveyancer (CPC) has completed the education and training required to hold a Conveyancer's Licence issued by the Department of Fair Trading but also accredited and supported by the Australian Institute of Conveyancers NSW (AICNSW).   Certified Practicing Conveyancers are also required to complete ongoing professional development to maintain their Conveyancers Licence and CPC status.

  • Do I need a Solicitor as well?

No you do not.  Licensed Conveyancers are qualified practitioners in all the legal matters involved in the sale, purchase or leasing property or sale and purchase of businesses within NSW.  We don’t handle other areas of law so Conveyancing is our area of expertise.

  • When I use a Conveyancer am I protected if something goes wrong?

Very rarely does anything go wrong.  As Licensed Conveyancers we are regulated by the Department of Fair Trading and are members of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers (NSW).  We are required by law to carry Professional Indemnity Insurance, so in the unlikely event of an error or omission on our behalf you’re completely covered.

  • When should I speak to a conveyancer?

You should speak to us as early as possible. You will need a contract prepared before you put your property on the market and you should speak to a conveyancer before purchasing one. There’s no such thing as a standard contract, so never sign anything before consulting us.

  • How long does conveyancing take?

Settlement terms can be negotiated by the vendor and purchaser however the standard settlement period is 6 weeks after contracts have been exchanged.

  • What is PEXA and is it safe?

PEXA (Property Exchange Australia) is Australia’s online property exchange network.  It assists members (such as solicitors, conveyancers and financial institutions) to lodge documents with Land Registries and complete financial settlements electronically. PEXA has significant security safeguards in place to ensure that only authorised individuals and firms can use the system.

  • How much does conveyancing cost?

Our prices are very competitive and we offer a fixed rate conveyancing fee, meaning you’ll know exactly what you’re paying before the process even begins.  Feel free to contact our friendly team for an obligation free quote.

  • Can I do it myself?

Although it’s possible, we certainly don’t recommend it.  Contracts, leases and other related documents can be tricky and time consuming and a small mistake could cost you thousands of dollars.  Our professional and experienced team know exactly what to do, and what to look for, and we carry Professional Indemnity Insurance to cover you in the highly unlikely event that something should go wrong.
